Government & Social Services

JCPL partners with community organizations to help provide access to government and social services.

Help with food stamps & other benefits

In Florida, social services including Medicare, SNAP (food stamps) and TANF (welfare) are administered through the Department of Children and Families. Library staff can provide copies of forms and access to the internet to support your application and recertification for benefits. If you need help applying, or have more complex problems, you can speak with a DCF social worker during weekly office hours.

The social worker currently visits Jefferson County weekly on Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Services are first come, first served. To get started, come to the front desk to pick up a buzzer. You may want to call ahead to make sure the social worker is available and can assist you.

If the social worker is not available, you can call the customer assistance number at 850-300-4323, Florida Relay 711 or TTY 1-800-955-8771.
