Collection

Print books & materials

The library has an outstanding collection of over 35,000 books, audiobooks and DVDs to meet your educational and entertainment needs, including an up-to-date children’s library. We also share items with our partner libraries, Wakulla County Public Library and Franklin County Public Library, to give you access to an even larger collection. You can view the catalog at http://catalog.wildernesscoast.org.

If you have a library card, you can also put items on hold and view your current checkouts and due dates. Your PIN is the last 4 digits of your library card number.

There are multiple ways to pick up your items:

Visit the library. The library is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday for browsing and item selection. Click this link to get driving directions.

Pick up curbside or at the door. During curbside hours on Mondays, a staff member can bring your items to you at the door for pickup or leave them on the pickup table. Give the library a call at 850-342-0205 to arrange curbside, door, or contactless pickup.

E-books and streaming content

The library has a large collection of ebooks, digital audiobooks and streaming media available for free at http://ebooks.wildernesscoast.org. You can also download the Libby app on any smartphone or tablet. Search for Wilderness Coast Public Libraries (our consortium) to find our collection.

The e-library is open 24 hours a day! To access the ebooks, you must have a library card that has not expired. Contact the library at 850-342-0205 if your library card is not working or may be expired. We can renew your card over the phone. You can read ebooks on e-readers, phones, tablets or computers.

Circulating technology

Chromebooks, hotspots, meeting cameras, board games, and other tech and learning materials are available for checkout through the same system that you use to borrow books. Visit the Tech2Go section of our catalog to learn more and place items on hold. If you need technology to help you access the Internet, participate in virtual events, or hold a virtual meeting, the library may be able to accommodate you. Please ask for assistance with your IT needs.

Special access through the cooperative

JCPL shares resources with other rural libraries through the Wilderness Coast library cooperative (WILD). Among other benefits, this allows us expidited access to books held by our partner libraries. Many of these titles can be sent to JCPL in a few days.

Get any book, from any library

If there is a title you are interested in that isn’t available through our library or partners, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). We work closely with other libraries across Florida and across the country to help meet your needs. While it make take up to a few weeks to receive some items, we are committed to ensuring that you get access to information. Visit the library or contact 850-342-0205 and ask to speak to the ILL coordinator.
